The Haultain Research Institute, a leading independent educational organization dedicated to addressing structural inequities affecting landlocked Canadian provinces, is thrilled to announce the newest addition to its team, Mr. David A. McLellan, who joins as a Senior Fellow and will co-host the Institute’s podcast, “Thought Farming.”

Haultain President, Dr. Marco Navarro-Génie, expressed his excitement at welcoming David to the Institute, stating, “We are delighted to have David McLellan join us. His wealth of policy experience from both the energy business and finance sectors, combined with his strong entrepreneurial spirit and deep appreciation for liberty, makes him an invaluable asset to our mission.”

David McLellan’s background is a testament to his diverse expertise. He served as an Officer in the Canadian Armed Forces for over eight years and subsequently pursued a civilian career in finance. He holds a BA in Economics and a Master’s in Energy Business from the University of Tulsa. David is a Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) and has been a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI) since 2002. He has worked in various roles in the energy sector, including project economics, investor and government relations, and management of intellectual property. In April 2016, he founded Ridgway Strategic Consultants, focusing on emerging oilfield services technologies.

David McLellan is a seasoned writer and commentator, having contributed to publications such as the National Post and BOE Report. His insightful perspectives have also been shared on a national platform when he appeared before the Standing Committee on Finance in Ottawa.

As a Senior Fellow at the Haultain Research Institute, David McLellan will play a pivotal role in advancing the Institute’s mission to address structural unfairness in the Canadian federation. His contributions will undoubtedly enhance the Institute’s non-partisan research efforts, exploring avenues to promote fairness and balanced renewal that benefits Prairie Canadians.
